It’s time for another Kpopalypse roundup! Let’s check out some new releases!

Akdong Musician
Hyosung – Find Me
Yeah she’s tied up and she looks amazing and there’s even some blink-and-you’ll-miss-it sideboob somewhere but what really excites me here is that the beat is at 124 BPM which in 2011 would be considered about average but in 2016 sounds like fucking Slayer compared to everything else in k-pop coming out lately.
Oh My Girl – Liar Liar
Similar to Twice and DIA‘s recent songs, but better – however it also has the same sonic overload problems and just like those songs your ears will feel like they’ve been syringed once it’s over.
Block B – A Few Years Later
Redeems itself from R&B ballad trashville by soundaliking some of The Roots’ better production quirks.
Rude Paper – Sons Of Liberty
No k-pop concessions here, this is pure reggae, so if you like reggae you’ll like this. And if not, then you won’t.
KittiB – Doin’ Good
Add this to the enormous list of Korean rap songs where a doubling of BPM would have fixed the fucking problem.
Amber – Borders
Amber could have done so much more with the “misfit” theme of this, I was hoping for something that actually sounded like The Misfits.
A.cian – Touch
They pretty much ripped off YG’s entire sonic palate here and tried to make an actual decent song out of it. I refuse to believe that young men who look this fit are this bad at climbing.
Lipservice – Hello
Another promising k-pop group goes shit, here’s this week’s token “Love The Way You Lie” clone.
MC Meta, Naachal, Nuck, Rhyme-A, DJ Pandol – We Back
This is what actual rap music sounds like. Just reminding you because I think a lot of people have forgotten.
Hong Jin Young – Thumb Up
Starts off looking meh but Hong Jin Young wears better clothes as the MV progresses and that’s all I really wanted from this.
BONUS SONGS
Dean – Bonnie & Clyde
The beat is acceptable, pity Dean (I refuse to spell his name the stupid way) isn’t doing anything acceptable over the top of it.
Dean & Gaeko – Half Moon
This is even more fucking shit, Dean should just quit music and… oh wait, in Korea they love this crap. Never mind then, carry on making money I guess.
Jay Park – The Truth Is
And here’s how Jay Park does it. Horrible of course, but the funny lyrics make it one of the best songs Jay Park has ever done.
D-9ine – Touch Me Now
Yeah mind if I don’t.
BTOB – Remember That
Ballads are no fun. Ballads endanger the life and happiness of millions. It must stop. We appeal in particular to the youth of today. Stop the madness! There are better things in life.
That’s it for another Kpopalypse roundup! The series will return next week and in the meantime don’t forget to TAKE THE KPOPALYPSE SURVEY if you haven’t yet! Do it, caonimas!
